Radio System Design is an interdisciplinary course that takes students from basic radio system design through the construction and demonstration of a Quadrature Amplitude Modulated radio. Students will learn the fundamentals of signal processing, pulse shaping for reduced bandwidth, noise and maximum capacity of a system. In addition, students will build microwave components such as couplers, power dividers, and phase shifters using transmission lines and will also have the opportunity to build active devices such as mixers, and low noise amplifiers (LNAs). Prerequisites: Undergraduate signals and systems and at least one course in undergraduate circuits and electromagnetics.
